MDAC Enterprise
The Maggie Daly Arts Cooperative (MDAC), an enterprise of The Kennedy Collective, is designed to provide an inspiring environment where individuals with disabilities can learn, create, and benefit by participating in a multi-faceted arts program. Located in the Read’s Artspace in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut, MDAC features an open-concept creator studio and an exhibition gallery.
The Kennedy Collective values unique artistic styles, considering them highly prized to the extent that gallery presentations may be appreciated by the community at large. MDAC artists develop an understanding of what constitutes aesthetically gallery-ready presentation, realizing how art can generate not only individual recognition but also commercial interest.
Artwork created by MDAC artists is professionally exhibited and available for purchase by the public. In-gallery sales may be supplemented by reproductions of their work in various formats, including multiple art prints, stationery, personal accessories, and other product lines.
At the core of the Kennedy Collective enterprises is a commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities. As working artists, participants directly receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of their work, with the remainder going back to the organization to expand services to individuals with disabilities.
Artwork and gallery exhibitions continue to travel to community and local government spaces. The MDAC Gallery exhibits the work of MDAC artists alongside professional artists from the Bridgeport community in group shows such as Seeing Red; and has highlighted the work of particular artists in focused shows such as On LINE, an exhibit celebrating the power of “the line.” The Small Works exhibition included small-scale work from not only MDAC artists but also work from artists and staff throughout The Kennedy Collective, as well as professional artists from Bridgeport and New York City."
Remembering Angelina Rea Paul: A Tribute Through The Kennedy Collective's Art Exhibits
The Kennedy Collective’s art exhibits are underwritten in memory of Angelina Rea Paul. Angie had been a gifted artist and fashion designer who studied at New York's Trapenhagen School of Fashion. A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Italian immigrants. She used her extraordinary talents to design and produce an array of fashions, including gowns, dresses, christening outfits, costumes, and men's clothing for dignitaries, friends, family, and charitable events. She was a one-person fashion house, handling designing, tailoring, pattern making, fitting, and seam-stressing.
Supporting The Kennedy Collective's art in Angie's memory is particularly appropriate, given her love of painting and teaching others the joy of painting, and above all, because of her enormous capacity to help those in need.
