Just like our homes, Kennedy Center Group Homes also are in need of repairs and renovations.
However, The Kennedy Center depends on the generosity of the community to maintain its residential program, including 16 Group Homes throughout Fairfield and New Haven Counties. Most recently, Newtown Savings Bank generously donated $5,000 to the Daniels Farm Group Home in Trumbull to replace 30- year-old kitchen cabinets.
“We value our partnership with The Kennedy Center and know our donation will further enhance the lives of people with disabilities,” said Dan Long, Senior Vice President, Chief Experience Officer at Newtown Savings Bank. “We are thrilled to support this vital program and to ensure the residents have a warm, inviting home to call their own.”
Martin D. Schwartz, President and CEO of The Kennedy Center added, “As a nonprofit agency, we rely on the philanthropy of area businesses to underwrite the costs of renovation projects to our Group Homes because we do not receive state funding for these expenses. I applaud Newtown Savings Bank for their compassion for others in the community.”
Residential Services at The Kennedy Center began over 45 years ago with the development of the first two Group Homes within the State of Connecticut to provide community living support services to adults who had intellectual disabilities. The Kennedy Center Residential Services include the following program services: Group Homes, Supportive Living, and Family Support. The Kennedy Center currently operates 16 Group Homes or Community Living Arrangements. The capacity of each home ranges from three to eight individuals. An array of services is provided throughout an individually designed person-centered plan of service.
